get the codes read by a reputible indy and have the car fixed. all-round safer than brushing away the fault.

As above. Don't disable it unless you are running a pure track car
Disabling it will cause a lot of hassle from police and insurance if you have an accident.

To reset it you need diagnostic kit that can talk to the ESP module and you'll also need to fix the fault (usually a wheel sensor).
