How do I turn the radio/cd off on my S class?!

I have an S430 (nov 99) with COMAND.

Whenever I start the car the CD or Radio come on (even if I turned them off last time I drove the car)!

How can you prevent this? (apart from switching COMAND off altogether which then means you cant use the Sat Nav).

Tried that! Believe it or - 2" of manual but no mention of how to turn the ****** thing off!

wayhey...something i can answer with authority.....that is providing you have a dvd drive in it....you just pop a dvd in, select video and press the soft keys for stop (Right hand side, 2nd from top, next to screen).....and roberts your fathers brother..then select map and you will notice the map and phone works but no sound....

if this dont work explain the problem in more detail coz i had to do this by trial in error and came across it by accident.....if you put a cd in the dvd slot it doesnt happen. has to be a dvd. Never tried an mp3 cd in mine.

and by dvd drive i do not mean in the navigation dvd rom slot..i mean the comand slot above the screen! if you havent got one then you may have to do what bentley owners do and mute the volume or turn the sound down.

if you have cd multichanger you can remove all the disks and select cd then it wont play or default to radio.....altho it seems pointless that you cant select stop in this mode....

Thanks but I have no DVD - its a pre-DX system with single CD for Sat Nav under the screen and 6 CD autochanger in the boot!

Any other ideas?!

is it remembering other settings when the ignition is off? bass/treble settings,radio frequencies etc?

Yes - it remembers the last station and all other settings.

If the Radio was on last then that comes on.
If the CD was on last then that comes on.

The only way I have found to stop them coming back on so far is to switch COMAND off altogether.

pop into a audio specialist. it seems the logic control will need to be turned off. this is why it comes on with ignition as opposed to when selected. a combination of button pressing and lots of swearing seems to work.
