how do you get this off?

Has anybody been able to get this off?

i.e. The panel pointed to by the X.

I've got rust underneath this water deflector strip on both sides and I need to get them off before getting the rust treated.

any ideas?

this is off a w124 mercedes 300ce 1989 model

that strip plugs into some clips under the actual strip itself, removal (i guess) would be by lifting the strip from the rear window edge and working your way forward, you should see the clips underneath

Hi,
lift the rubber trim that goes down the side of the windscreen and there should be 4 screws that fix it to the wall pillar.Take out the screws and you should be able to slide the trim off towards the rear.(will probably be tight if it hasn't been off before, maybe lubricate with WD-40 good idea).
Make a note of the position of the plug clamps underneath....do not disturb them...... as they are positioned at specific distances apart.
The above is the proceedure for a 190, should think most mercs are similar.

Lubricating anything with W(ater)D(isplacer)40 is a bad idea. If its on rubber soapy water works best.
