How do you play DVD's?

Hi Folks,

For those of you with Command, how do you play normal DVDs in the car?

I put a DVD in today taking out the command DVD and the system didn't seem to recognise it. :roll:

What am I doing wrong?

Yes, that is what I did. I also tried putting it in the CD changer but that didn't work either... :roll:

My E Class has a separate slot for DVD's, IIRC the Comand in the C Class & CLK will not play DVD's. Alfie is the man to confirm this.

No it is not working. Ok so I guess it is an optional extra. Never mind, I was just having a play anyway, not really going to watch DVDs in the car.

Any w211 fitted with comand has a dvd based system.

Sometimes if you put a home written disc ie: burnt from a pc or lap top, it's quality isnt good enough for the system to read.

Assume that you are putting it in the single slot on the actual comand unit rather than the 6#stack or the drive in the boot?

I believe that your Comand will be the same unit as I have fitted in my C class, if so then it will not play DVDs or MP3s. MP3s will play from the changer but not the head unit.

w203 is not the same as a 211 in that it is not a dvd based system.

I would like to be able to play DVD's from my command system too, is there anyway of getting it to work? I tried a brand new copy of transformers and it did nothing. Car is a 2007 clk.

Apart from the fact that the OP shows a 209 not a 211.

The 203 c class and clk were never fitted with a system that could actually play dvd in a picture format unlike the W211 which did,then new ML, ,R class and new s class (and obviously 204 c class)

Unsure of the reason why-maybe the technology wasnt quite there when they made the unit for the 203 and 209 clk.

Which is why I am confused that you started talking about the W211, when the original question was about a CLK and my response was referring to C and CLK Comand. I said I believed that they were similar units which would not play DVDs.

i understand what you were saying but i was pointing out that the 211 was the first car in the product range to have full d.v.d picture playing capacity.

it seemed that he couldnt understand why his wouldnt do it.

That may be so, but the OP had accepted 12 hrs earlier that it would not work, sorry but I feel that your answers nay have caused confusion. We may have to agree to disagree on this but the situation is still the same, the unit will not play DVDs as I originally advised.

So to sum it up, my 2007 CLK320 CDi Sport does not come with DVD Video option as standard.

Whereas current E-Class's, ML Class's and S-Class do have it as standard? Is that right then?

as I said earlier, Alfie or Richard are the best people to confirm any queries about Comand. Sorry if the earlier posts confused things, but AFAIK you can't play them as standard in your car. :cry::cry::cry:
