How does the Breakdown Assistance work?

Hi Everyone
I have a 2018 GLC 250. Can anyone tell me how the Breakdown Assistance call button works? In particular, if I bought the car in Portugal but am driving it in Spain? I recently suffered a destroyed tyre and couldn't get help. With no spare, I was in trouble.
