how easy is it to replace fuel gauge thingy inside tank

my 380sec (85) has a sticking fuel gauge and I need to change the thing inside the tank. Please can anyone tell me if this is an easy job for me to do?

I am not sure if you have a panel that comes out under the seat or in the boot, so that you can change the sender, have a look

I am just wondering if that in a full tank might be worth a fisrt try.
