Euro 2.3's had 130bhp and US 2.3's had 120bhp.
Interestingly the info I have says that the same engine in a W124 had 136bhp!!??

I followed an S500 on the motorway to work today, in my 230TE. Guess what? We didn't get any further, due to the traffic in front of him. So it appears that the 2.3 is as good as the 5.0, because it can keep up with traffic in an everyday situation.
Of course, if you ever find an uncongested road, the larger engine will be very enjoyable to use!
