Due to a change of circumstances I will be looking to sell by beloved w124 at the end of the year. When I come to sell it the spec will be:

1994 L reg E280
82k miles
Blue black metallic
Carat Du Chatelet Bumpers and Wheels
Full MBSH and one specialist stamp 8in total
Two new front wings genuine MB
Repainted bumpers
Full leather interior
Burr walnut shifter and steering wheel (both genuine MB)
New timing case seals and rocker cover gasket
New Diff seals and diff mounts
Absolutely immaculate inside and out no expense spared!

Would only sell if the price was right as I really do love this car :(
so folks roughly what do you reckon its worth?

 Well it so happens in another thread Merclad is looking for just such a beast. So I've posted on that thread to bring it up and on this so you two might get together. In Southampton/Lymington dealer has a very clean and tidy one with excellent interior and bodywork asking £1400. I that about what you are expecting??

Ha ha we have a comedian on our hands :p

Have looked at w124.co.uk is a good website but, they are all estates and mine is a saloon!

Bit confused why its called w124 when the designation for an estate is S124!

S is estates and W is saloons.

Look on Parkers used car prices web site and see older car section.

You will need to pay £2.99 to get a range of prices depending on whether via a dealer or private, and whether selling or buying.

And prices for different miles.

I was pleasantly surprised at how LITTLE the miles affects older cars.

There is very little difference between a low mileage car and a high mileage car - it ALL depends on condition.

So my coupe at 151,000 miles is worth only a little less than a 90000 miler. And as mine is mechanically very good having been gradually been brought back to A1 cass mechanically, using all main dealer parts - I am pleased.

Looking at glossy Merc mags I would say asking prices for older Merc's are
well above Parker's prices.

Let us know the Parker's prices for your car.

Regards

I have seen them at specialist dealers for £7k!!!!!
I think that £4-4.5k is realistic with the age and milage it really is mint

Just wanted some peoples opinions obviously its only worth what someone will pay but if they were looking for a W124 you would struggle to find better

Kth286 I know W is a saloon and S an estate thats what confused me the website www.w124.co.uk is dedicated to estates!!!!

Also if you wondered C is a coupe and V is long wheelbase

If you can find one for under £4k with that milage, history and spec I will be surprised. But if you are so confident please show me some evidence. Look on w124.co.uk as said above the prices on there mean 4k is a bargain ;)

I'm on the lookout for a 280 as Hawk described, but 4k is beyond me. From what I've seen (and I've seen quite a few) 4k maybe optimistic but if it is as described you'd probably get £2.5-3.5k as some of the better ones have gone for that amount.
One I missed out on a few weeks ago (spent 3 hours too long mulling over it!), with a few less miles, 2 owners and a similar spec went for £2750. It was totally original, full MB main dealer history and also in the lovely dark grey metallic colour.
Don't think you can compare Saloon prices with Estates, as the 7 seaters seem to command a premium.

There was one on Ebay at Easter very similar to yours with 84k and history that sold for £2250 via a dealer.Yours might be worth £2500 if perfect. Run of the mill cars fetch £1200-£1400.
Saloons are worth half that of estates.Your asking price is four times what I paid for my E320 94 102k ! In fact I think I overpaid as I saw another E320 with rusty wings go for £650 recently.
Check out http://www.autotrader.co.uk for asking prices.

Thanks for all the replys folks but none of those cars have a carat kit on do they?

I think I will put it up for £4500 if it sells it sells if not i'll keep don't want to get rid of it anyway had it 2years now never had such a smooth and comfortable car. Just need to save some cash really this is the quickest way of doing it!

It looks nice but £4.5K's worth of nice, probably to some but not to me.

These "What's it worth?" type threads are bit pointless. Only one person knows what it's worth is and that is the person looking to buy. Sure, Parkers says this or Glass's says that and CAP undercuts the lot and there's one on Ebay at... and the garage down the road has a minter for..... These are only guides.

However, if you want to look at it from the point of view of Mr Average Buyer, it'll be seen that you're selling a 12 year old car that is thirsty compared to an 1800 Mundaneo and more to insure and repair to boot and you want a lot of cash for it. He's not going to buy. You're going to have to look for a Merc nut who wants a good W124 with Carat kit and will pay but you'll have a waiting game if you hold out for £4.5K and wait for that buyer to come along.

Good luck whatever you want to do.

Non Sportline model and no A/C ? The very best of luck with the sale. What is it with Carrot Madame Cholet "bits" that makes people think its worth loads of money. I think most would prefer AMG, Brabus or Carlsson.

That said it does look very clean though.

Well I really like the carat kit think it is a matter of taste, the fact you can't buy it anymore also means you can't make another unlike an AMG.

I know its only worth what someone will pay and know to some people it seems expensive, and others who are looking for one maybe not.

Just wanted peoples opinions in general thats all.

As I said before really don't want to sell it how many people can say they have a e280 at 21

Most of the ethnic juvenille population of North London drive an old E Class, they also have chrome bits all over their cars like you do, however they probably paid a more realistic £600 - £1500 for their ride... and by 21 they've gone on to a Lexus!

I sold my old 300E to a young rasta from North London. Not really making a point on price (or race), just backing up kingmoosa on the fact that there lots of young black guys driving 1990's mercs in London.
