I have a 2002 112CDI Vito and it has always been serviced at 10,000 mile intervals

After a little reading I found that variable servicing via ASSYST if synthetic oil is used could mean 18,000 intervals

Is this accurate?

Is it a good idea or is every 10,000 miles better - I use synthetic oil anyway

Your Mercedes
S class
Yes synthetic oils do allow longer service intervals, the only aside to that is if the vehicle is used for short, stop start runs and never really gets a chance to warm up, but in general most modern diesels have around a 20,000mile service interval..Personally I would feel I was neglecting a vehicle if I ran that long between services....and a gallon of oil and a filter is cheaper than an engine..well it was at the time of writing this...
