How risky - previous warranty repairs?

I am considering buying an April 2004 E270cdi estate.
I have learned that in Sept 05 the turbocharger was replaced under warranty and that a leakage in the fuel system was fixed in Oct 06, again under warranty.
Any thoughts on how big a risk this represents now would be very much appreciated

I wouldn't worry. Warrenty repairs by MB are guaranteed for 2 years or 20,000 miles I believe. Either way those are parts which could fail anyway and as they've been fixed all the better.

On other threads the turbos have gone to 130,000 miles or more without trouble. You could always join MB Service plus which covers just about everything. Virtually an extended warranty and includes all servicing too.

Things go and are fixed under warranty - it happens. I recently had the ESP steering sensor replaced but that's no indication that you'll get the same. My Turbo is fine (touch wood) and no fuel leaks to report.
The common failures are things like the gearbox oil seal (where the wiring attaches) and engine mounts on the 270 so have these checked. Also make sure it isn't affected by the Valeo radiator fiasco though I suspect it should be too young for this anyway.

In theory your turbo is newer than it would have been and has covered a lower mileage as a result, plus, being manufactured later, if anything the quality should be even better than the original so all in all I'd say the issues you list, if fixed properly as I'm sure they were, are plus points.

my sbc hold/stop is not available again and i had this done about 18 months ago, after seeing what you said above i have just rang my local MB dealer to book it in and asked if this was right.I was told,if i had paid for the repair then yes it would be guaranteed for 2 years, but as it was done under MB warranty then no it did not apply. As for the valeo radiator issue, this did seem to occur with the larger engines.......320...270,but they had not had any problems with the smaller ones,220,i hope he's right!
