How to adjust main beam separately from dip beam?

How do I adjust my main beam headlight alignment separately from the dip beam?

1997 E-class E320 W210 - twin headlights, separate bulbs and lamp covers, although same housing.

I have set the adjustment screws (up/down, L/R) to align the dip beams correctly, but now the main beams are doing a Close Encounters thing. (1 up, 1 down, badly)

I can't see how to adjust the main beam separately. Any ideas?
