HOW TO change gearbox mount

The subject in this case is a coupe W124

Preparation again is the key..

You'll want a way of supporting the transmission for when you remove the mounting bracket.

19 inch flat ring spanner... one of,
1/2inch socket... one of,
13mm socket... one of,
..and of course your socket wrench

1. Locate and remove the 2 central 13 mm bolts directly below the holding bracket.

2. Locate and remove the 4, 1/2 inch bolts, 1 at each corner of the bracket and lower bracket.

3. Using the the flat spanner remove the bolt at the top of the mount. :mad: This is the part I found toughest.

Note: as all bolts unscrew, unlike a pregnant female, by turning anti clockwise you must do the same with this bolt, imagining that you are facing the mount from the top of it.

To install replace the 2 central bolts first as this will help you center the bracket, ready for the 1/2 inchers...
