how to disable the air bags

can anyone tell me how to disable the airbags in my 1998 E200 saloon,(W210)please, has i have a rattle in the drivers door and i dont want the air bag to explode when i try to sort it out...many thanks.

Hello,

Well, my pervious owner have done it before, as he have a baby seat...

Anyway, what you have to do, just turn off the ignition,then unplug the wire which connect to the airbag, the wire located behind the airbag, but is not easy to do so, you might have to took it out to do it.

After you finish everything, and plug it back, turn on the ignition, check whether the airbag light is 'normal', if not, double check the wiring.

But I don't really think you have to remove it when you fix the door, as it is not that easy to fire off.
