Do you have the manual?

I’m presuming you mean car rather than cat… ;)

I’d recommend taking the manual into your house and having a read, bathroom is a good place to keep it as you can get some peace. Just don’t read so long your legs go numb…
Whilst the manual will cover different trim levels and options you will be able check what the buttons you have and what they do.

I find manuals a great bed time read. A few hours in bed its better than talking to the other half

I apologise in advance because no offence is meant.
This is a car no more than 4 months old so was presumably bought brand new or pre registered, and as such all documentation is provided.
People really need to RTFM rather than expecting others to provide all the (basic) information for them.

Not upset, but the forum doesn’t know your car or exactly what options it has.

Whilst Premium adds a few, MB in their infinite wisdom choose to alter the packs often and what was included is now a cost option or the other way around if they’re trying to shift model.

Current Mercedes steering wheel layout is pretty much the same throughout the range.
On right hand drive cars the buttons on the left control phone and media functions, while the buttons on the right are for cruise control and dashboard/vehicle settings.
You should read your handbook which will explain all functions in an easy to understand way.

P.S. When replying last night my alcohol content was high which meant my tolerance in other areas was low. :p

I agree with reading the manual, there can be so many features, with 90% of there capability clearly not intuitive and as 99% of owners never read the manual mostly unused, so no one sensible will be offering any useful advice...

and after that you can get buttons attached to nothing and certain trim levels that look remarkably like it might have a feature everyone needs, but as the original purchaser is so thick, they likely listened to the sales drivel, instead of reading multiple car mags over the last 20 years to understand what developments are coming, then read the sales literature of the possible features every car should be spec'd with, then checked the car configuration pages to see what comes and goes as various features are added.

So what we end up with is twofold.

1) badly spec'ed nasty fill up the production line stocking fillers
2) possibly worse over priced garbage, where, as most dealers can't actually read and potential purchaser's never do their homework they just bundle packages of crap

So we get a sunroof no one has ever opened, instead of adaptive distance cruise control, 20" wheels that just crack instead of the better 18" ones, and a sporty bumper you can't see, instead of parking sensors and a radio worth turning on.

I suggest you take a photo through the screen of your chassis number and paste the info into one of these websites and it will show what toys the car was built with

https://www.lastvin.com/ then armed with reality, read the manual....

of course the next step is to realise 3 key toys you now "need" and spend the next 4 years trying to buy trim, looms and ecu modules and hoping somehow you can get the software of each to communicate correctly with the rest of the car....

only to give up 2.5 years in to the journey, having spent 200 hours on car forums, and after buying 1000 quid's worth of bits second hand as there's no end to the mods you believe are required to get anything to actually work. And see out the other 1.5 years still wishing you had the feature - see comandonline - drive in drive out for £1500 all coded and now listed on the vin sites, as a legit toy, wired and fitted by a grown up

I do understand where the OP is coming from. Reading the manual, on its own, really does not help.

I've recently purchased a pre-owned car and have been reading the manual. It's a standard manual describing all features in all model variants of this car. It doesn't give me any indication of what is in 'my' car. Only way to find out what I've got is to sit in the car with the manual and try each of the options to see if it's there or not.

Funnily enough I have a sunroof and have never opened it (other than 1 time only to test it), and have no intentions of ever opening it. It is part of the top trim spec and I like the extra light that it lets into the cabin.
I agree that Mercedes are very mean in making the adaptive part of cruise control only available as part of an optional package at significant cost.

Lol, come on don’t sit on the fence, just say what you want to say.

Not saying this applies to the OP, but some feel rather then reading the whole manual, it’s easier to just ask on the forum, but in practice that’s not a good idea, as one would have to ask so many questions, and the risk is you may also get the wrong answers, it’s best to read the full manual, and one can skip the bits that you know about, or not relevant to the car, as the manual would be generic, and some bits would relate to a different spec car, albeit the same model.

But you do agree that reading the manual is important?
All model manuals are how they all are because it would be silly to print individual manuals according to trim specs (of which there can be many) and optional extras.
It is always easy enough to work out what your particular car has when sitting in it as you say and comparing with the manual. :)

Or you can put your vin into the vin reader website, that will give you the full spec/options on your car, then all you would have to do is skip the section which doesn’t relate to your car, but shouldn’t one know what options you have on your car when you purchased it.

when I am buying a car, I know what spec and options I want in a car, and also in the ad it normally says what options and spec the car has.

you need to sit in the car, with manual at hand and experience the features.

For example read the sunroof part, Look up and realise there is no glass rectangle above, then move on or vice versa.

I dont have a problem with somebody asking a question on a forum when they cant figure out what a certain button does etc, and I have done the same thing myself after checking the manual and am still not clear about it.
However some people do not bother to even glance at the manual and ask the most basic of questions on car forums then expect others to provide the answers for them.
This seems to be a combination of laziness and simply being a man. :D

P.S. See post #10 for an explanation of my first post. :)
