How to raise Bonnet to fully vertical on CL 500 W216?

I know you push in one side button, push up the hood a little and then push in the other side button.
Any ideas which one is first ? Left or right.

And my main question is to lower it.
Does one just pull, and keep pulling it down or do you have to lower it to the first catch, and then the second catch and then pull it all the way down?
i.e. does it auto engage these catch point as you lower it.
