1993 W124 estate.
I was doing some pre winter cleaning at the weekend and when I came to insert the jack, I noticed that some rust had started around the rear jacking point.
It appears minor but would like to treat it before it gets any worse.
I need to remove the plastic sill cover to get to the metal. I know that there are screws along the bottom edge and a couple of clips at the front.
I assume that the top of the cover is held on with clips and just needs pulling out? Is there a clip behind the rear wheel arch plastic trim?
Is there anything that I should be extra careful about when removing the cover?
Any advice would be welcome.

Go to our trusted site and you can see all of the fixing points, use the first 6 numbers of your VIN then go to coverings

malcolm you really do love that site dont you?
The time to look up these things with WIS is horendous, and to write it all out took too long, you get every fixing point and screw, even part numbers.
the worst bit is when you have to keep asking for the first 6 numbers of the VIN

its very usefull mioba;)

Here's how to do it.
1. Remove the plastic panel from the lower front wing.
2. Open the front & rear doors.
3. Prise out the front end of the rubber seal and pull away from the sill cover.
4. Undo the 8mm screws that attach the cover to the side of the sill and then the 8mm screws that attach the cover along it's bottom edge.
5. The cover is now free. Be careful that it doesn't fall to the ground.
6. On refitting, press in the rubber seal hard into the channel. It is gripped by a series of metal clips.
That's it really. This only applies to four door bodies.

The top corner of the plastic panel hooks around the wheel arch. If you can't un-hook it with your fingers, try a small electricians screwdriver GENTLY inserted between the wheel arch lip and the plastic panel.
Once the top corner is unhooked, the top edge of the panel can be pulled away from the wing. This is done by releasing three bayonet type clips along the top edge of the plastic panel. Start with the clip nearest the wheel. A male part, attached to the panel needs to be gently prised out of a female plug in the wing. Again, if you can't separate them with your fingers, I would try a wide flat tool with plenty of masking tape to protect the paintwork.
Once the top clips have been released, by looking down inside the panel, you can see three plastic clips along the lower edge. These are a different type to the top three. DO NOT try to prise them apart. They will almost certainly break. These clips have an arrowhead or barb that is simply pushed into a hole in the wing. There are two ways of releasing them.
The first would be to remove the plastic inner wing shield and pinch the head of the clip from inside the wing with a pair needle nose pliers and push it out.
The second method is to detach the clips from the plastic cover. The clips are attached to the inside of the plastic cover in two small slots. Working from the top of the cover, use a long narrow screwdriver to unhook/push out the the clip from these two slots. Again, start at the wheel arch side.
The first method takes longer but makes it easier to refit the the panel.
The second, the way I did it, can be a bit fiddly when refitting the lower clips. The upper clips simply push back into the wing fittings, starting with the clip nearest the door.
I hope that this makes sense.
