I've lived and worked for many years in that part of the world ( Pakistan / Afghanistan. going by the cap he is wearing ) and believe me, you would see worse than that...much worse. Life expectancy there is not very long. And there is no alternative, work or starve.. there are no trade unions to improve the working conditions.They will handle any kind of toxic materials,, no masks or other protective material used. I've seen this in many 3rd world countries. Too many, unfortunately.

Yes as Jim said. Work or starve.
That said the wealth of talent on the street is totally mind blowing and there is always someone on the street who can fix anything.

Yes, and then they will fix it again...and again !!! Bit like Cuba, and all the old car's still running there. In one sense, its a bit better than the throw away society we live in.....with built-in obsolescence included in the price. And much of it ending up in Countries like the one showing the battery repairing operation in the video.
