How to structure MP3 folders on SD card

Hi all,

Not only is this my first post here, but it's my first Mercedes too. Only taken delivery today. A 2016 C220d AMG Line Premium Plus.
I got this car after having owned a number of Audi A4s & A6s. My latest 2020 A4 having being stolen off the drive a few weeks ago. So I fancied a change and so far am really pleased with the C class.

Question is, I have a load of MP3s on an SD card. They are in individual album folders on the card. This always played perfectly in the Audi and I could play and search by album. How do do this in my C class as it seems only to play the MP3s in the order they are on the card and I can't select individual albums.

Any advice is much appreciated - thanks.

Check your manual - if it’s easier, download the “Mercedes Guides” app and then download the file for your particular car.

I have attached a screen shot from the manual for my car which might help as I think your car uses the same system as mine. I have no trouble with music files on mine so maybe your files structures or formats need adjusting?

No manual in the car but downloading one right now.

All my files are correctly named and all tags are done correctly. It's my guess then that I need to put each album folder into a new folder called 'Music'. I'll give it a try.

I used to own an 2016 E350, I use Apple equipment and just used to copy and paste music to SD card and USB storage as they were stored on my iMac and this worked fine for me, I cannot think that Windows etc would be any different but I’m no expert on these things.

I do the same on my 2021 GLC USB storage and this also works just fine.

All good and working perfectly thanks guys. I just dragged my individual album folders into a single folder called 'Music' and it all works as it should and displays all the album art etc.
