how to turn off cornering fog lights?

I was picking my son up from his work the other day when he said my passenger fog light came on as i turn in to his car park and then as i turned to get him so did my drivers fog light.

on checking the hand book it appears that this is indeed the case though with a couple of curiosities.

In a very over-complicated way it basically states these cornering fog lights are activated and de-activated using your indicators and helpfully on the next page it goes through the whole explanation again?

However mines are not activated/de-activated by the indicator and just work themselves when turning a sharp corner with my main beam on.
Does anyone know how to de-activate this permanently as im not happy driving around with a faulty looking car that turns on the fog lights back and forward as you turn a corner then straighten back up.
Front fog lights are in a long list of useless items i have on my cars that i would rather do without.

Then your have bulb out malfunctions all the time!

Yes, but at least it cures the problem!

And you know what the malfunction is.

My humble '202 has none of these fancy gizmos, however.

Paint the glass black, best of all worlds

problem is with higher spec cars you get more and more useless kit that can go wrong. in 22 years ive never used front fog lights indeed the only people who do use them are boy racers, constantly.

Seat belt alerts, now i cant put my bag for work on the passenger seat as the car wants it to put a seat belt on.

tyre pressure alerts, they go off but there is never anything wrong with the tyre pressure. i have eyes.

bonnet release alert, again i had to have a new switch installed because the broken switch was telling me my bonnet was released. again i have eyes and dont need the expence of fixing this again.

all the other nanny warning alerts you are not allowed to ignore.

they fill your car with useless gadgets but cant give you a rear seat that folds forward or more the one cupholder in the front

i am a man of simple needs

nice colour
right engine
nice alloys
leather

I have most of those lamps on from time to time, on the cup holder bit, MB have worked out that just one cup is enough to kill the gear selector ECU

Well I find the cornering light function a real benefit, especially when negotiating the parking in my court yard. Having to avoid the low stone markers and curbs at work is also easier when illuminated by the fog light.

I especially like the way the way the opposite light illuminates when reversing so you don't catch the wing.

Have you noticed how the light dims slowly rather than just switches off?

Nice one MB :D

following on from my original post can anyone tell me why the handbook takes an longwinded complicated age just to say they work with the indicators but my E-Class works all the time?

Mine work as the steering wheel is turned past ~45deg..

Do you have active cornering system, whereby the headlights actually turn?
