Hello...

I've just bought a 450 slc and can't seem to turn the headlights off... ! I managed to turn them on ....after a bit of twiddling... In it's current position the headlight switch moves to 3 "plunger" positions ok ... but when I try to turn the switch to the left it won't budge, it's as if it's locked in position.

Also, I can't figure out what the 3 positions of the pluger switch are for.

I don't have a handbook so I'm a bit stuck... For now I keep disconnecting the battery...

Any help/guidance much appreciated.

Best regards,
Phil

it sounds like

the switch maybe loose in its mounting, and or the knob has lost its grip on things. You can pull the knob off ( just grip frimly and pull directly away from the fascia). Try a pair of pliers on the shaft to rotate it back to the off position. The off is in the middle, and there are two to the anti-clockwise ( parking lights, left and right) and two to the clockwise ( side lights, head lights) There are olso two pulls from side and head ( front fogs and rear fog).
You should be able to tighten up the retaining nut with the knob off.
You can get knobs and switches from breakers and e-bay. They aren't just w 107 specific, and should do from anything up to 1995 ish. I know it looks the same on my 124 and 202.
