Thought I should say hello - I've been lurking here for a long while now and think my old account went inactive, so have recently re-registered.

I've owned a few Mercedes now, starting out about 15 years ago with a C250 and then progressed through a couple of W210 E Class to my current R170 and W169.

I'm definitely in the DIY camp and find the older Mercedes really nice to work on, for the most part, fixings last longer than some other makes and, apart from rust, they've all been a pleasure to own and drive.

Anyway, that's me... I'm based in Orpington, in Kent (UK) and a father of two boys who have (so far) zero interest in looking after cars.

Thanks for the welcomes, I really miss forums having been really active in them about 10-15 years ago before FaceAche seemed to take over (and we were consigned to never see the useful content more than a few days later, 'but it's in there, somewhere').

Hopefully someone here might know what I'm facing with my A Class - it came to be from my best friend, not as a consequence of a long search for 'just the right car' and I'd like to get it diagnosed and then be able to just drive it around for a while.
