Howto install a factory IPOD kit into a MOST based COMAND

Found this link earlier which details how to install a factory IPOD kit into a facelifted (MOST based) car with COMAND / AUDIO 20. This will be the new W203, new A & B classes and ML.

Seems very straight forward except for the coding of the cluster at the end!

Ipod connectivity

Hi Alfie

Just noticed your post about the Ipod, I have a 2002 E280 Elegance, my cd chnager in the boot is knackered and i want to use my ipod for all my music what options do i have so that i can control all my music via the ipod on my steering column

Presently there is no solution to that. I suggest you replace the CD changer. Do you have comand? If so you can hook up an ipod to the AUX port of that but it wont be controllable from your steering wheel or your COMAND. the music will however, play through the speakers.

what about Mercedes own actual IPOD connector kit, that they are supplying and installing.

The Mercedes kit presently supplied and offered is based on the MOST bus. It is not suitable for earlier cars. By earlier I mean it wont suit a pre 04/2004 C class (W203), any W210 e class, Pre 03 CLK (W209).

As far as I can tell,the MOST bus came in in mid 03

The MOST bus came in on the W203 from April 2004 build onwards. It came in on the W209 CLK from October 2004 build onwards. The W245 B class and W169 A class had it from the first build of those models.
