Humming in engine compartment when stopped.

After three months ownership and having done three thousand miles I heard a humming noise today for the first time after a 6 or 7 mile drive after I turned off the engine.

There was a slightly different hot smell when I walked round to the bonnet but nothing too alarming I thought, and the car drives very well and there were no warning messages. On the return journey it didn't happen. The outside temperature was 15 degrees. The oil temperature was also normal.

Some cars have a little electric pump to circulate the coolant, to help cool down. Should not run for more than I guess 5 mins.

Electric fan, running just to cool it down?

I'm not sure it was a fan. I have done long motorway runs on 28deg days and pulled up in the services and not heard this before. It only runs for a few minutes but why has that just started?

I haven't been out for a couple of days so I will try and have a better listen if it does it again
