I bought a 2010 s204 c220 cdi 18 months ago for a daily driver after owning a couple of Swedish cars. My main passion with cars has always been jap cars really (hence the name) but to have a silly little jap rice rocket you kind of need a sensible daily too
I can’t say I’ve fallen in love with the merc, it’s boring and a pain to work on but it does a job, it’s comfy and very economical on fuel. I have the crx as a fun car! I’ve done my fair share of work to it so far… changed passenger door lock, changed timing chain, serviced it every 6k, changed waterpump and all belts.
Currently got a strange fuelling problem which I have posted about in the relevant area, once that is resolved im looking to sell it for something simpler and probably Japanese. The swede and German cars just don’t give me the same feeling of trust unfortunately!

Oh I fully get that, but the fun cars aren’t sensible, economical, daily drivers (for me anyway!)Not all Mercedes are boring. Some of them are very fun indeed, especially those of a V8 flavour, not to mention the AMGs.
A c-class 2015 c250 cdi sport with some 40k on clock iirc owned from new by my aunt is probably is the second worst car I’ve driven after a 2000 Corsa 1.2!
Your car isn’t designed to be fun but you say it’s doing a job well. As you have been doing oil changes every 6k and seems to be good in others respects, I’d say keep it going. Some of the best daily drivers aren’t fun but such an ease to live with such as a Lexus IS250, which, destroys any 3 series or C class for quality, luxury, refinement and reliability.
Its rare to see a car with 5-6k oil changes in this day and age as everyone’s brainwashed by bullsh!t extended service intervals.

600 mile oil and filter is the futureYou not met @Wighty
I’ve never owned a v8, I’d love to at some point though! It definitely wouldn’t be a merc or even in a merc though haha. You sound like a V8 man to me

I'd agree with DSK - granted not a unique or overly fun car but for your daily, there are much much worse cars. Incidentally, I have an E class A207 with a V8. Essentially it's your car in terms of chassis and many other components, but is a great car with just short of 400hp on tap, so definitely not a slow horse in any sense of the word. An MB V8 is a fine engine but I'm guessing this group is sowewhat biased - really though many well built V8s will cut the mustard for fun and excitement but your CRX is also a very well respected fun motor! Hang on to the 204 I'm sure it will serve you wellI’ve never owned a v8, I’d love to at some point though! It definitely wouldn’t be a merc or even in a merc though haha.
If I had less of a daily commute and deeper pockets I’d definitely be in something more juicy!
Perhaps the best maintained 221 in history! My w221 will be having another full (all filters and fluid) service having probably not covered 600 (yep hundred) miles since the last!
I may put my lightly used filters and fluids on eBay for for all the skin flints who expect to run a car on fresh air.
