I just drove around aimlessly for over an hour and it was fun..

So..

My E class has been out of action for the best part of two months due to the alternator issue.. Considering the SL is in storage, I basically spent two months using my track spec Renault Clio 172 Cup as my daily.

My alternator is fixed and I am back cruising in comfort. I just can't get enough of the smoooooth V6. I went for a quick spin earlier and ended up driving around London twice.

It is chalk and cheese between the two cars.. I may as well have gotten into a Rolls Royce.

I feel like it was the pick-me-up I needed while in isolation.

As the cool kids say, PFA! The car was filthy after gathering dust, literally, for a couple months.. but it's nice and clean now :)

(I know you can see the swirl marks from where you are sitting and a few odd scratches.. some day I will get around to bringing this baby back to the glorious state it was once in.. but still not bad for 196k on the clock.)

Oh guys, I know.

In the estate most of the parking is covered by trees. My bigger worry is stones being thrown at the car from the lawnmower / strimmer

Strimmer at one of my work sites took the back window out of my smart :( I was away in a hire car so didn’t know about it for a couple of days. They’d fixed some black bags over it to stop rain getting in, until I got back.
Auto glass couldn’t repair it, being a convertible so it had to go to Mercedes main dealer. Gardening contractor paid Mercedes directly so no insurance issues for me.

Oooph, very lucky the contractor owned up to it.

Depends if he ever wanted to come back and work at my site really...
Plenty of cctv /witnesses and being one of the senior managers on site meant he didn’t have many options open to him...

Parking under a tree :(

In advance of today's deluge I washed my wife's Astra GTC yesterday. I then washed my neighbour's long neglected Range Rover. After a bit of lunch I went to my wife's car intending to polish it. The nearby tree had made such a mess, I had to wash it again. Instead of polishing it, I did a quick once-over with McGuires Quick detailer and was surprised at how this cursory job made a difference.

It's now parked away from trees.

For a few minutes I was in agreement with Brazilian President Bolsonaro - get rid of the trees. Then I came to my senses.
