Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....

Can I suggest you look for a good reputable garage who charge reasonable rates.

The problem with cheap garages and Merc’s is that repairing the “repair” can get expensive!

Too many tales on here of cheap garages getting it wrong. Take it to a good indie, might be a couple of quid more - cheaper in the long run I suspect.

Welcome, I can recommend someone in Ellesmere Port but I’m not sure if we’re thinking the same way on ‘cheap’

Shouldn't need a camshaft unless something really bad has gone wrong! Just gears and a chain, potentially some valves if they have been bent.

Firstly, welcome, when you say "cheap" I wouldn't go to cheap, if I was you, for example, Fred in his shed type of thing, find a good Mercedes indie, and you won't go far wrong, where abouts in the N.W. are you?

Thank you everyone, to me cheap is 350 or 400 pounds and 600 pounds with camshaft... if it is more money I will change it by myself... the situation is that the special tools’ cost are 80£ which I will never use again, if you add the price of the chain kit and the time spent, I prefer to pay a garage. I paid 2000 pounds for this excelent car, because is the firs car that I don't share it with other family members and I think to change it in one year and half, so, I don’t want to pay I.e. 1000 pound... I live in Lancashire but close to Manchester... Thanks!

You can sell any one off tools that you have to buy on eBay for 75% of what you paid ?

It's never going to be that cheap IMO unless you do it yourself, not many specialists would want the PITA job that is without earning some money, especially when they take the chain out and realise the sprockets are goosed (everyone knows they are made from Gruyere)
