According to a local trusted Indy I rang this morning they would not rebuild the engine but replace it.
He said there would be too much damage for an economical repair.
SellTheCar have offered my friend £1500 so there must be a profit in there for them. I guess the red leather interior is worth a good bit on its own.
Any way, I think he has pretty much decided it will be a new car unless BMW offer some sort of goodwill or a replacement engine is cheaper than I thought. ( both of which are unlikely!)
