Just 25 days till I pick up my CLS - Can't wait!

You can get devices which attach to iPod's which you then tune the radio into, hence you can then place the iPod through your sound system -

Has anyone actually seen one of these?

I'm told by MB that mine will have one but when i go to the dealers, the latest arrivals do not have them.

My dealer says they're expecting it in September, for the existing 'E' class, at least.

Now does that mean...
IPOD integration kit in E-Class in UK from September? I don't think so but hope so.

or AUX in socket (cinch?) in glovebox? I expect yes

And does from September mean September builds or deliveries?

And where are (presumably) RHD E class built?

I have heard that the integration kit will be available as an aftersales option. Which is great news. Don't know from when but have asked.

I've now heard that the "ipod integration kit" will ONLY be available in the UK as an aftersales option. Availability will be around the time of the M Class launch in September.

Yup, by "existing E class" I meant as an aftersales, dealer-install, extra, as opposed to a new-car factory option

Yes, but you've got to really whack it hard into the slot.

I have just taken delivery of a C class with Command. There is an Aux socket in the glove compartment which allows connection of an external device such as an iPod. I am sure if this is available in the C class then it chould also be in the CLS. You do have to change tracks via the iPod at present however MB tell me that they are launching a product in Q3 of this year that will allow connection of an iPod and user will be able to control from the head unit/sterring wheel. Having tried out the iPod through the Command I can confirm that quality is excellent. Having to press buttons on the iPod is a small price to pay.

We've just picked up a CLS350 earlier this week, and I know it has an aux but haven't checked to see whether the socket is in the glovebox, will check in the morning

However, the cd player in the COMAND can play mp3s on DVD-RW so that's quite a few tracks right there

Had a look in the glovebox of the CLS this morning, and found this AUX socket, is that what you were looking for?

I bought a Belkin of Ebay that allows you to tune into loads of frequencies. It worked great on my CLk but is crap on my S class and Mazda 6 (6 is for the dogs not allowed in my new baby!). The FM tuning thing leaves a lot to be desired!
