Hi guys, I aquired a W124 1988 300D recently and wondered if you could clarify something for me...

Behind the battery is a small box with a hinged plasic lid, there are slots for 2 10A fuses, but there is only one in there... is that how it should be?

I tried putting a fuse in the empty slot and I think the tickover increased, but as my tacho doesn't work I'm not sure and it could have been my imagination!!

Any suggestions most welcome

I have a new one I just bought form the dealers

for a 1988 300 TE petrol. It does have two fuses in the top, 10 amp each. The part may have been superseded since the original went in. Part no A2015403745. Check that against what the dealer say fits in yours, bearing in mind yours may be a bit different as its a 300 D.

The OVP relay on the w124 is about 50% cheaper for the same part if purchased through eurocarparts!!!!

Also a quick fix for the relay if stranded !!!!! remove the relay wait 5 seconds and then plug it back in again, should be enough to get you running again.

thanks, just had a look and there about 40 quid a pop. GSF don't list one.

Mine runs fine, even when ABS light won't go out, just a bit fussy on starting though never fails. Running fine as of today, after quick spray of electrical cleaner to pins.

and thanks for the tip, hope it doesn't come in handy.

I paid about £63 quid

at the dealers. They must see me coming. they certainly hear me in the SL.
Still available for £50 if any one wants it.
