Hi guys, got my first fault on my 2007 e220 cdi, trying to narrow it down,it is as follows

code 2293. Check component n14/3 (glow time output stage)

the 2293 is throwing me a bit but it is harder to start in cold weather so just wondering if anyone had this, from what I have read it is glow plugs or controller but 2293 is generally a fuel pressure code.
any help would be much appreciated

What does your glow plug light do on starting the engine?

The wording glow time output stage would indicate the relay is at fault.
If you Google n14/3 (glow time output stage) nearly all the results that come up concern a bad relay.
But get a multi meter and check relay and plugs, I did look on Youtube for a suitable video of an e220 and how to run these checks but could only find the larger capacity engines although the testing principle is the same procedure and also most likely the relays are exactly the same model just 4 instead of 6 outputs.
Fuel code 2293 maybe just related to the not starting in time ?? Im not sure but its cheaper to check relay and plugs over first as only takes around 30 mins max… in my experience lots of codes often come along for the ride with the main fault as they are related and in your case both are related to starting procedure

the glow plug control unit has some intelligence that was refined through later iterations - and they should be considered a service item alongside the glow plugs

The icarsoft has given the description for the P code as implemented for that specific model. In that era the ISO standardised codes weren't implemented. It was a free for all.

The fuel pressure code you elude to "Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance" is the ISO description of P2293. That spec came out in 2005, so Mercs won't have adopted it until several years later.

So with an old car, if you just Google the code you'll probably end up with the wrong answer. Same goes with a generic OBD reader. As long as you use a decent tool that is tailored to vehicle, like the icarsoft, follow the description given you'll be ok.
