ok, recieved my icarsoft this morning from a reputable authorised dealer, but now running into the same problem, won't recognise the seroal number, anyone come across this before? if so how did you get over it?

LJM must be shut today as they are not answering phones.

Didn't someone in the other thread say they'd USB connected their iCarsoft and it had been autodetected by the computer and shown it's serial number to register OK??

The instrument should be plugged into your PC for the PC Client software, when installed, to recognise for you to be able to select the update option, you will then see a list of current version modules and the available updated versions.

thank you, is that before i install the files from the icarsoft website?

icarsoft machine plugged into the computer via cable, not lighting up
SD card inserted into computer and working
click on the update tool and get a blank box with no serial number
input the serial number from the back of the unit and get the message, "this serial number is not icarsoft series product serial number"

think it's a case of waiting until LJM are open again and contact them to walk me thrugh it like the idiot i am ....

Make sure you choose the correct MSDIAG software for the tool you have i.e. MB V2.0, MB V3.0 MBII etc, and follow the instructions here

You are going to need your wits about you because the OM in general is particularly poor, once you update and get in, only a good level of familiarity will get you to all areas of the menu and features of the tool, support from LJM will be very handy in the earlier days.

thank you, i was trying to download the mbV2.0 (which is what is says on the front of the unit) instead i downloaded the first one on the list and it worked..... a little confusing but i got there in the end.

Only faults found relate to the xenon ballast unit on front left, really don't want to be taking the bumper off as it's been non stop rain all day, see if its dry tomorrow, mind you I won't be able to order a new one until the new year now ☹
