I have just started a test on my new tool but have no idea what it means now.
Does anyone have any experience/knowledge in the Uk of this tool and what it is saying. Screenshot(s) attached.

You're looking at live data regarding the status of the engine.

It would be helpful if you gave us some context when receiving this data; ie was the motor running, were you attempting to start the car, did you just have the ignition on in pos. II ?

Give us more info otherwise it's gonna have to be the Ouijah board.

I’ll take a stab in the dark and say the motor definitely wasn’t running

Engine is not running. Ignition key in position 2 and tool supposedly saving data. Seems to be taking rather a long time though.

The software on this thing is not the most intuitive of things. Currently all that is happening is the counter at the top of the screen is counting upwards. Currently at 914. Does it ever stop and if so, what happens after that?
The instructions do not help either.
Do we know of any experts on these systems in the Uk?

You've entered the wrong mode.
You want to look at error codes not live data. Live data is useful when you can look at it whilst doing something.

If it's the same as the MB-II (earlier than yours) go to Diagnose then look for your vehicle. Then cycle through each module in turn selecting Read Error Codes.
Note down all the codes.

No you haven't. You're in live data. That's not the area where you read codes.

See if this helps:

Sorry. I meant that I have downloaded all the fault codes apparently. I now have a load of .rex files listing faults.
I was in this other mode to see if it would tell me whether my starter motor is faulty or not.

there's a really simple starter motor test, put the key in and turn it. If it starts, the ignition switch, immobiliser, battery and starter motor function

I think the starting points we need is

does the car start
what faults do you believe it has

aside from those rather important points, I can see quite a few things on the list that will make starting and low speed running harder than it should be... and its probably in limp mode

you have a number of dead glow plugs and the control relay is probably dead too... they are normal wear and tear service items that need swapping out every 60k miles 4 x plugs £50 relay £90

your swirl flap motor has probably gone pop 10p fix which will have likely taken out fuse 44 meaning its in limp mode

the cat sensor is gone but they almost do nothing and I doubt you'll notice if you change it £110

you might have the other normal fault with turbo exhaust back pressure sensor dead £50

lots of can bus faults which could be low battery / people playing about

if its got that level of maintenance going on a new fully charged battery and power supply on the vehicle whilst doing diagnostics checks is the best place to start

a list like that is quite normal.... (its a Mercedes) at risk of offending specialist clear the lots (one by one) and try again they all come back if still there and you have a copy - quick erase on many diagnostics systems wipe everything including vehicle adaptions (that you want!) and should not be used

I think you might have to check Neils other thread as I don't think the engine is all back together

Some of those faults are historic, and I'm guessing that others have shown up because you have disconnected a variety of components while working on your engine and have not succeeded in running your engine since.

As you have a printed record of all fault codes, you can now safely delete then with your iCarsoft. Most will not show up again, but if some do when you eventually get your motor running, then you have narrowed the field and can concentrate on those only.

As for the starter motor, the advice regarding testing it is given in several above posts, and it's worth going through these again, testing the motor electrically. If nothing works, take the starter motor off and find a good auto electrician to check it over.

You're on the home run!

Wish we could put gradings on these posts, because you would be awarded a Gold Star for giving that advice. Thank you. :-D :)
