I am trying to get a full size spare wheel for my 2012 W204 C class. Between the AMG sports pack and the depth of the spare wheel well I figured 17x7 is the best (maybe only) option. It probably won't get used much so a used wheel is preferable, but I'm trying to figure out if the one I found would fit before ordering it.

It's a Mercedes AMG alloy, so the bore and PCD should be fine: 17x7J ET54 5x112

The offset is a bit more than what is currently on my car (18x8J ET47), but I checked this site www.willtheyfit.com and I should still be fine with clearance - it fits within the footprint of my current wheels.
I am a bit concerned because I'm sure not all Mercs use M14 bolts. The seller couldn't help me with that and he doesn't even know what car the wheel came from.

I think it might be from a W169 A class, in which case I guess it should be OK. Can anyone confirm that?

The wheel looks like this one from a W169 A Class.

It should have a matching part number stamped into one of the inside spokes B660 300 12

The W169 uses M14 bolts , the same as a W204.
It should fit your car without any issues.

Thanks, seems identical other than the offset. I've contacted the seller to see about the part number just to be sure before shipping it half way across Europe.

Definitely get the Part number and check it against A, B and C classes on the link I posted earlier.
You need to ensure an M14 bolt fits.
eg W203 C class need M12 bolts W204 M14 bolts.

Oh I will - I'd probably be better off selling it rather than paying return shipping!

That said, I'm fairly confident it will be OK. It's seems to be a genuine Mercedes / AMG rim and, as far as I can see, the only model that officially supports 17x7 with an offset of 54 is the W169 A class.

Well, it looks like there is no part number - not OEM clearly cast in the back of one of the spokes. But the seller was nice enough to measure the bolt holes and the date stamp is about right for the W169.

At 16.2mm diameter M14 bolts should fit fine, and I'm guessing it's far too big for M12 bolts.

I decided to grab the wheel seeing as it's about half the price of anything else I could get my hands on. Thanks for all the help.

According to the datacard, so did mine when it left the factory.
Luckily a local shop had a 17x7 rim to try and it fit just fine (wrong bolt pattern though). With the apparently more common 17x8, the boot floor wouldn't close fully.

Whats the worst that can happen if a 17x7 was fitted to replace a punctured 17x8?
If its only on there for a few miles until the punctured tyre is replaced then I'd hope not too much to worry about?
Anyone know?
