Idle Is this a Quick Fix

Hi,

Have had my CLK320 now for 18 months trouble free and wonderful driving,

The only problem i have is the car idles perfect at 750 rpm when in park or n but when i put the car in D or R it drops to 500rpm.

the car does not stall and drives perfect, is this normal ? or is there a quick fix or a elimination of things i can do to sort it.

I have put petrol aditive in but to no avail, would apreciate any idea's as its going to Indie for a service on Monday so i can ask him to look if anyone can tell me what to look for.

I would have said that your idle of 750 is too high, and this needs to be lowered on STAR to around 650, there can be 50 rpm difference when selecting D

If the car is not miss firing or seeming like its struggling to run, I would not worry too much about it.

have just gone into garage to check idle and yes it is about 650 not 750 as stated ( it's the eyes going a bit dodgy ) and steady not surging up or down but as said when in d or r it drops to 500 and is not steady
