If it's a Bose System the Speakers on the Rear Shelf will look like this as on one of my CLK's.....

Not sure what Audio you had in there originally - usually Audio10 - it should have the Din Plug which is the same as the A/M Radio.

You A/M Radio Connector Cables should look like this, more or less. The bit on the right plugs into your radio and the socket on the left is where you car loom plugs into.

In the photo the Blue wire is disconnected - it must be connected - and you have to take a switched live feed from your cigarette lighter to the Red Cable. Without that feed and the blues wires connected it won't work.

If you have started cutting wires already I'm afraid you are in a world of pain! I've had 4 CLK's (w208) and fitted A/M Radios and I have never had to cut wires!

Sorry I can't be of more assistance. Good luck.

You should have basically 3 Blocks of Cables coming from the car as seen in Photo below.

1) Top one - Power, Amp Switch and Earth. (Plugs into the corresponding Connector Block coming from the Radio).

2) Middle - Speaker Feeds. (Plugs into the corresponding Connector Block coming from the Radio).

3) Steering Controls. (Ignore this one).

If you just have loose Wires coming from the Loom and none of the Blocks I have mentioned/shown in this photo then something is clearly amis.

The chances are that you will have four speaker wires and one common return to all your speakers, look for mV with a multimeter when your radio is on to identify which is which while adjusting the fade and balance settings to identify the channels, the 5th return wire will not be connected to the chassis so keep your test leads on the 5 wires/sockets.

It means your Amp is as post #2 fixed to the inside of your rear NS wing

No doubt. But that still doesn't change the fact that he has no other Control Connector/Wires for the actual Headunit...?? Which whatever System he has is still very strange. Unless it is operated Wirelessly, which I doubt otherwise the Speaker Control would be also.
I think the best thing he can do is take it to a Specialist ICE Tech.

I wouldn't 2nd guess with HK as they've been using different digital technologies between components for quite some time now, the OP asked where the Amp was, I've no idea what the goal is?

A150 manual, smart forTwo, W205 AMG line premium plus.
A 2003 CLK will be Bose not HK. Same applies in that all the speaker wiring will go to the amp. The head unit will have fibre, live, earth, can , power and wake up for CD changer (if fitted). Email me the vin to sales@comandonline.co.uk and ill tell you where the amp is. Its often in the rear but not always.

If you are changing the headunit then you will also need a new amp to drive your speakers properly. Its a big job.

MB reuse vin options, so during production the audio upgrade will be Bose for a certain number of years, they then switched to HK for the audio upgrades.

So vin decoders show that your car has the audio upgrade but shows it as HK as that is what the latest audio upgrade is for that code.
