Ignition/Immobiliser Problem (R129 1997 SL320)

Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me with the following problem:

The engine is turning over but won't start, the red and green lights are flashing alternately on the rear view mirror. I'm thinking it may be the immobiliser, does anyone know how I can reset it?

A bit of background: I took my ignition switch out (for an unrelated problem) and since reinstalling it the car won't start. The doors all lock and unlock normally which suggests the car is recognising the key fob, also the key fob battery is fine and the car battery is fully charged.

Any help much appreciated.

The red/green lights can flash alternately or the same time one means fob batteries are low the other is the key is out of sync.
Which is which I cant remember sorry, but from you're symptoms I would say try a re-sync next.
Google or use utube as almost certainly the correct process for re-syncing the key will be posted there or possibly in the owners handbook.

Yes new batteries and/or a re-sync may well sort it. The sync procedure is something like key in ignition, turn to position 2, return to off, key out and press key button twice withn 30 seconds whilst aiming at the interior mirror. Your handbook should give exact procedure.
