Ignition key

I have a 220 CDI, W 2000. I need a new ignition key, can any one help or advice? What is the price of those keys from a dealer? My key is a 3 button type not a flick one as I have on my S class. By the way the key was working fine until the red lens at the top of the key seems to have melted somehow. I am using the spare key at the moment. In fact I wonder if I can change the red lens?

Hello and welcome to the forum. New keys cost around £140 only from MB dealer.

Re the old one,spare parts cannot be bought. You can test it with a digital camera.

You will also have to show the MB Dealer proof of ownership in order to obtain a new key or any keyed item ie... Door locks, trunk locks, ect...

A digital camera CCD will pick up light that the human eye cannot see.

Get a mobile phone and use the camera on it, point your tv remote at the camera - you'll see the diode illuminate as you press the buttons.
