could anyone tell me if the control unit for a 450slc with the same part no. as my 350 is compatible and will resuscitate my ****** car,im looking at U.S. websites as thier horribly expensive here and i dont want to risk a shoddy 2nd hand one,will there be further complications re. emissions control etc??

thats a ignition control unit, its also called a ignition switch or amplifier,cheers
