Hi,

My first post (of many ?)

Im after a late r107 SL preferably a 1989 V8 model but will consider others - has to be near mint condition. Does anyone have one for sale or know of one for sale.

Any advice much appreciated - I'm in no real rush as I have already waited 10 years to own my dream car but I do need to find the right one. I have no mechanical expertise and I know I need to be careful especially on the RUST (and cover-up) front

My budget is around the 15k mark.

To be honest you'll be lucky to get a mint one for £15k. Concours low mileage '89 R107s are more like £25k.

Have a look here - though they do tend to inflate prices...

Thanks for the replies - nice sites and some great cars unfortunately out of my price range - maybe if I carry on waiting I may be able to get one within my upper price band if it was a direct private sale ? (then again they could continue to rise especially as summer is 'just' around the corner - good investment)

the Club classifieds are full of them

as is the for sale section of Mercedes Enthusiast. Sensible to go for the later model, but they do fetch the best prices. Perhaps braoden your seach to 1980 onwards, and you might find a less sought after pre-facelift version for sensible money, but still in top nick.

There are a lot of good cars out there as well as some ropey ones. Take your time, the good ones won't vanish overnight.

It is 11995 and sounds a nice machine. I was fancying it but have got no more room in my driveway. Am afraid it is in Edinburgh but he is very well known around here for selling interesting cars and has excellent reputation

Does look nice - shame its so far away - Im umming and rrring whether to book a flight ? - Its just that Ive seen so many and they have been well better not say on here. Ive spent alot of money and time on travel etc.

I rang Derek it does sound like a good one though.
