Hi there, just purchased a 1998 E300 TD Avantgarde Estate. Azure Blue. Pick it up on Saturday. Yes it has some signs of rust, but got it for a good price. Will have a try with the local dealer to get it fixed, but worse case I think £500- £1000 will get it all sorted.
The car has 117,000 miles with full MB service history. The car drives very well, 7 seats not that I need it but nice to have if another 4 kids come along. Will try and get some pics up asap.

Cheers

Welcome. I've recently got my 1st MB, a 1999 E200 Classic Estate, with rust. It had a fair amount of MB service history, but by no means 100%. Anyway, the local MB bodyshop inspected and agreed to do it free of charge, I'm picking it up this afternoon. I think I've been lucky as it's hit and miss with alot of MB bodyshops, but if it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have known about MB's goodwill warranty.

That's it, I'm definitely going to have a go with mine. Don't care how old or the history, has to be worth a go.

Had a quote of elsewhere of 600 notes to fit and paint up (including all the proper matching etc) two wings which I'd supply. Seems fair....

Mine has full MBSH so i might get lucky, even if they offered a 50/50.

To be honest £600 to spray and fit 2 new wings seems a tad much to me. I would have thought closer to £150 per wing for the painting and about £50 each to fit, £400 tops. I would get a few other quotes.

Ah, didn't realise you had Full MBSH - thought it was patchy, must've mis-read. To be honest I've been b*ggering about avoiding the issue for so long I might just plunge in after the winter - it's a local, respected bodyshop and all that jazz. I did have a quote elsewhere of 900 sovs and that was with me supplying the wings!
