Hi, I recently bought a 1995 C180 which came with 3 keys. Only one works and I've replaced the batteries on the other two with no joy. Is there anything obvious goes wrong with these keys other than batteries? Also, I believe there might be an easy way to disable the immobiliser just in case the one working key packs up. Can anyone tell me how it's done? Thanks - Miserable Scotsman - (we hate spending our money....)

welcome to the forum so lets cheer you up, the chances are that you can fix the non working remotes, there is a first class article by Anyweb on how to fix them, if you do not feel confident to do it, ask someone in the electronics to do it for you

Scotty

Are you keys the single button flip key?, the problems Ive found is the micro switch on the circuit board, this is the switch that activates the alarm etc.

The micro switch on mine eventually came off the circuit board so I couldnt lock unlock the car, resoldered into place all ok.
Other problem I had was the metal clip that goes over the batteries, that snapped, so I removed what was left and soldered two 1 cm lengths of wire (paper clip) bent at 90 degrees and it works perfectly.

Thanks Guys, one of my keys has the broken battery contact and the other the micro-switch fault. I've fixed the battery contact and I'll have a go at re-soldering the micro-switch.

Thanks again for the advice. I now have 3 working keys for the price of a blob of solder and some new batteries. A "happy" Miserable Scotsman.
