Hello to everyone on the Mercedes site, I have just bought a C250D 1995 registered and it seems very nice indeed in a Dark Metallic Blue (actual colour not known) however the only problem I have is that the Handbook has been lost and its rather difficult to work out the various functions, winky lights etc, a particular problem is that the car is fitted with an Immobiliser, and we find that unless we get the car started promptly the immobiliser kicks in and the engine will not start, we then find that we have to lock the car and unlock it again to start, I'm sure its all very secure, but does anyone know if the time between unlocking and starting can be altered? I would really like to get a handbook, does anyone have a spare handbook I could buy, or (and) perhaps a Haynes Manual? One last thing, the chap I bought it from, a Car Dealer, and this was his own car for 6 yrs, told me that the car was the Facelifted model that came in 1996, the car looks modern to me but I really don't know the various models too well, are there any obvious differences? Right that's it for now, its a lively site and I hope that there is someone that may be able to assist,
Steve (nr Bournemouth)

Location
2 inches from your rear bumper
The immobiliser kicks in after about 30 seconds, as far as I'm aware this is not adjustable (the manual makes no mention of it anyway). It still catches me out about 3 times a week, even after 6 months!

Many thanks "M" the odd thing is the various permutations that it seems to have, sometimes we can stop and restart without problems, then another it will not start, then again the door opening seems to have an effect, and another is that the car will start if the key is just removed and reinserted without locking/unlocking the doors, so far (600miles) we have still not worked out how it works. The good news is the fuel consumption, £54 worth of Diesel (about 11.5 Gallons I think) took us allmost 600miles of mixed, mainly urban driveing, so were very pleased indeed with "Merc" Steve.
