I have a 1994 C class 2.2 petrol. when I bought it i was given 2 remote controls with key. one of them was not working the switch was broken. I changed the switch and the LED lights on again. That means the remote control is working. The problem is that it does not switch the imobilizer on anymore. I think it lost the frequency. Now my imobilizer i do not know if it is original or no. The remote controls are of mercedes as they have the mark. but the LED on the dashboard is near the headlight switch, it only light red and flashes red, the sensor is on the left top corner of the windscreen, it is not like i read somewhere here in the centre mirror.

Any suggestions how to do it?

Your set up seems unusual for a 1994.
Do you have an alarm under bonnet?
The LED on dashboard seems like it is there to show the arming of an alarm, where exactly is it located?
The sensor is on the left top corner of the windscreen may be an alarm motion detector, can you describe it?
Could you say if your keys and rear view mirror are the same as in picture?

Your other key still work ok?
some early 202s had only an immobiliser built into the ignition barrell collar i believe and the key being in the vicinity of the barrell released the immobiliser no syncing needed.
Does the faulty key operate the central locking?

sync key 202

Hi
I asume you have the flick key which when a buton is pressed the key blade come out from the side
It sound like it needs to be synct (syncronised) open the car point the inoperarble key at the reciver and press the unlock button place the key in the ignition and turn to posistion 2 (ignition on all lights in dash iluminated) leave for a full 30 seconds, remove the key and test

REmote sensor

The remote sensor is placed in the left top corner of the windscreen infact it looks like an alarm but under the bonet there is no alarm or i cannot see it. the remote is only there to switch the imobilizer on or of, the central lock is not operated by the remote, you need to turn the key, but the remote i think is original mercedes because they key fits in it exactly. it look abit smaller then the one your showed in the picture. By the way my car i bought from germany so it is made for german market. It is an ESPRIT model 2.2 petrol
