Has anyone any experience of importing a Mercedes from the US to the UK? I have noticed that the W113 Pagodas of the late 60's are considerably cheaper over there and more chances of being rust free. My thought is to buy the car in California, tour through the US for a month to New York and then ship it to Southampton.
I know the cost of shipping is about $1000, but am unclear about taxes and SVA approval. Keep in mind I'd be looking mainly at 'Euro versions' (ie SL's which originated as Europe cars and thus have the better looks and more power).
