Hi,

I am thinking of importing my E class (W210) from Germany to England later in the year. Does anyone know the things which must by law be changed and is it possible. For example can I adjust the xenon lights to LHD or is it not possible and I would need to buy new lights(expensive).

Rear fog I can switch sides no problem and I assume I can carry on with a kilometer speedo etc.

Anything else I should think about?

Thanks.

Xenons are switchable, little lever inside, just flick it!

Thats about it. You will need to take it for an SVA to get english reg.
On an MB, shouldnt need to do anything else for the mot...

When i was into jap imports, had to change tyres etc, but shouldnt be necessary on this..

Hi,

Where is the switch located?

My car is oct 1998, if it was registered in UK what letter does it get, is this also from 1998 or a special like 'Q'?

Would my local merc dealer be able to do the SVA (what is involved in that?)

Thanks for the advice.

P.S. Up the sky blues.

Its inside the headlight, so open the cover as if changing a bulb, you should find it there.

Oct 98 will be an S reg.... Im not certain that your car will require an SVA there was recently a change of rules. Best to check with dvla.
Its like an extended MOT test. DVLA will give you a list. I dont think the dealers do it.
Why arent you selling the car before you come. If you try and sell over here in the future, you will get peanunts...

Good luck

Jay

I'm with you on the switch, seems easy enough.

Selling over here would make more sense but I just intended to run it for years to come. Apart from the rust(hopefully sorted soon) it's a wonderful and reliable car. The only car i've owned I've never wanted to sell.

We'll see.

Thanks anyway.
