Do Mercedes Benz suppy / fit In Car DVD players and screens ???

I have a 1 year old ML, in which we do a fair amount of travel throughtout the UK & Europe and was thinking about getting a DVD system for the rear passengers (kids).

Are they a standard option which can supplied by MB or will I have to speak to a car audio specialist ???

All help will be greatly appreciated

HI

Probably best to get a system retrofitted by a specialist, and get a playstation added for good measure.

I have fitted many a stereo system before, and to do a proper job would entail dismantling most of the interior, it would probably wise to check with the local dealer about any warranty issues.. :!:

Hi Gordon,

You would be better of finding a good specialist stereo supplier. The dealers would sub contract that sort of work any way. Can't see it causing a problem with warranty. They would use there own wiring and seek the electrical feed probably direct from the battery.

Good luck

Nick / Andy,

Thanks for the info, I will try and find a reputable installer here , else I will wait until next time in Europe and get one fitted there.

Cheers

If it's just for DVD use, you could always purchase a laptop PC. Most have DVD drives these days and the 14" screen is much bigger and better than you would get on a ICE unit which are normally only about 6" or 7". The price would be a lot less than a fitted system and you could run any amount of games from it also. At the end of the journey youd also be able to tale it with you to the hotel or wherever. Additionally with a GPS receiver (about £70) you can convert the laptop into a navigation system using Microsoft Auto-Route or similar.

You'd need a 12v adapter plug and maybe a way of securing the system at the rear or the car.

I have also seen personal DVD players at about £400, again with small screens, though.

DVD in ML

I have just had a sony 7" monitor fited into a pull down roof pod for rear passengers only complete with TV & bumper aerial & 2 infra red headphones, to my ML. I had wiring also installed to connect a removeable Sony PS2 which plays games & also DVD's. Also the sound can be piped through car speakers for added effect. All fited by an aftermarket car audio specialist . Cost for the job was £1350. IF you have a spare you can have it permanenly fitted into the car.

Sony web site is worth a look.
