Increase in performance to a SL320

Hi there,

My father-in-law has bought a new SL 320, and he's looking to increase the performance a bit, I dont know a lot about mercedes but I own a Supercharged polo G40 and know a bit about tuning.

What are the best methods of increasing bph in this model, turbo, charger, a chip or ecu reprogam ? also can you recommend firms that do performance mods, preferbly in the southeast.

The only thing I have ever heard of is to chip it, is it the 111 or 112. as long as you realise that it weighs in at 1750 without glass roof, it will never be a Polo.

lol, my car weighs 750 and has been rr'd at 161bhp. Basically he just wants a bit of a performance increase and a chip would be this, what firms do chips for this model (2006 SL320).

OK his car is new so weighs more like 1500 he has the 113 engine I think, check in hand book. You have the one car that's almost impossible to tune.
you can do a web search under chip, the same engine is used in many other cars that can be tuned.

Hi i dont think there is a 06' SL320 they were stopped in 02 i think will be 350 500 or 600. anyone correct me if im wrong.....

I think you're right. The v6 petrol is a 350 now and rather quick into the bargain!

Yes you are right, there is a facelift version coming out end of march with new engine. 350, 272hk = 0-60 in 6.6 sec. the new 500 5.5 liter 388hk 0-60 5.4sec the 600 517hk 0-60 in 4.5sec they all have the7G tronic gearbox, new interior, bumpers. New roof goes down in16secs and hasa new aluminium look, lots more.
