Increasing squeaks, front right suspension...

I've noticed a gradual squeaking noise from the front right suspension of my 190D 2.5 - I think it's from the suspension, at least - over the last 6 weeks. It's been getting louder and more persistent. A bit like the noise of old bed springs. Eh-eh-ee-ee-eh-eh...but also quite muffled and discreet and really only the sort of thing an owner would notice who drove her regularly. But it's getting a little bit annoying.

The car has it's annual service next month but I'd like to isolate the problem before then, so I know what needs fixing. I've had new anti-roll bar bushes fitted and front ball joints a few months ago. The front wishbone bushes were diagnosed as cracked (but no play) also a few months ago. I know a weakness in the 190's design was weak, or badly designed, springs. But I couldn't say if this was the issue.

Any ideas here?

Many thanks

Adrian

There is a strip of non ferrous metal under the spring where it mates with the wishbone. This strip is to stop the spring from rusting and also to prevent squeaks. Check that it is still in place and has not corroded away.

Thank you, Ian. I will check your suggestion over the weekend.

Best wishes
