Thanks

In Glasgow ...

There is a good independent in Carntyne ... TJ O'Neill. I've had pretty good dealings with him and a couple of incidents that left me wondering but overall i would say that he is decent. To be fair once of the incidents involved a new fuel pump that he could only source as a new one, but would fit a second hand one if i sourced it. I guess its his choice if he doesn't want to supply or recommend used parts. I was just a bit miffed that he quoted me the $,000s to get a new one from Mercedes. If I had been a bit soft i could have said yes!

Hi

I recently used Carluke MOT centre. They are Mercedes Specialists and the guys there all used to work at large Franchaise. SL320 was not running right. From talking with a few mechanic friends all thoughts were Air Mass Sensor. Bosch unit was £220 from Europarts and I did not want to risk buying it.

Phone this guy (Alan) from carluke MOT and he immediately ordered the part in. They also have diagnostic equipment. Anyway the problem was the air mass sensor (what a difference it made to running of the car) They were certainly very efficient.

When it came to the bill the cost was £370. Told him about the cost of the part from Euro car Parts. He stated that they only use genuine Mercedes parts and the cost of the part was roughly about £370 from Mercedes. The bill then dropped to £300 through negotiation. Called Merc Hamilton when I got home and low and behold the cost of an Air Mass sensor from them was £370.

Due a B service in 5000k, so I think I shall try this guy. I have also been told that Merparts in Port Glasgow are excellent. Would be interested to hear from any recomendations/experiences from any of the Scottish Guys.

Be careful ... go by word of mouth. Some bad mechanics out there purporting to be specialists!

I went to RM Fensome in Luton. A self proclaimed Indi MB Specialist. This guy called Richard Fensome who owns and runs the place with YTS trainees is a PROPER TWAT.

I have been burnt by this guy twice and I have complained to MB Club UK about him.

He is still in business.

Watch out for RM Fensome in Luton.
