Further to this the stealership initially quoted £2300 for the following,

New SRS Seatpad sensor for passenger seat
3 x New Parktronic sensors
NSF Castor Arm Ball Joint
Discs and Pads all round
Rear Exhaust

Indie offered @ £1300 and the stealer came back and matched!! Is this common or is my stealer just competitive??

This is fascinating. One possible conclusion in the great ASSYST saga (new cars being serviced at least annually rather than every 2 years) is that the dealers need the volumes of business to support all the overheads of a dealership (marble lined atria, fragrant staff, etc), which is also why they charge such high rates per hour. Their major lever to encourage customers to adhere to such a schedule is the threat of withdrawal of warranty or Mobilolife - even if the issues in question would not have been subject to attention during servicing.

If this dealer will match the indy's price, presumably it is not going to generate the margin, but will give some volume of work to keep his troops occupied.

So short term I can imagine that the dealers could do this, but it does not fit their "business model".

It will be interesting to hear the experience of others on this point - my local dealership tends to get down to about double the price of the indy I use, and the indy is excellent.
